This was my third time in Rio de Janeiro and I had a chance to visit a new Priority Pass lounge called the Proair Sala VIP Lounge at Rio de Janeiro\u2019s Galeao Tom Jobin International Airport (GIG) which was located in Terminal 2. The only other Priority Pass lounge at GIG Airport Terminal 2 is the American Airlines Admirals Club<\/a> which I\u2019ve previously reviewed twice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Proair Sala VIP Lounge at Rio de Janeiro International Airport in Terminal 2 can be accessed after security and passport control, but you\u2019ll need to take an escalator ride down to the basement level. I noticed that the sign was labeled First Class Lounge with TAM, LAN, Ethiopian Airlines, TAAG, Lufthansa, and LoungeClub logos.<\/p>\n

I was able to access the lounge using my Priority Pass card even though there wasn\u2019t a Priority Pass logo on the sign. There was surely a huge Priority Pass placard located on the check-in desk! The Proair VIP Lounge is only open nightly from 6pm to midnight.<\/p>\n

The Proair lounge was small and completely packed. Not to mention there were hardly any seats available.<\/p>\n

There was also a small open kid\u2019s play area which wasn\u2019t enclosed.<\/p>\n

The buffet spread consisted of small savory snacks (just like the GOL Smiles VIP Lounge), soup, mini sandwiches, salad, dinner rolls, deli meats and cheeses, fruit cups, and assorted mini desserts.<\/p>\n

A coffee machine and tea was available along with a fridge full of soft drinks, juices, water, and beer.<\/p>\n

Hard liquor and wine was also available.<\/p>\n

The Proair Sala VIP First Class Lounge was quite disappointing and I didn\u2019t even have a place to sit. The buffet spread looked paltry and it was nothing to rave about. I think I\u2019ll stick with the American Airlines Admirals Club at GIG Airport<\/a> from now on.<\/p>\n
