I\u2019m about to endure a long mileage run vacation that most people on Flyertalk have already embarked on. I am flying LAX-LIM (1 night stopover) \u2013 GRU (2 night stopover) \u2013 SCL (3 night stopover) \u2013 GRU-LIM-LAX on a combination of LAN and TAM operated flights where I will be crediting my mileage to American Airlines and United respectively.<\/p>\n

\"santiago\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I bought this fare for $387.36 on Orbitz back in November when I heard about it from the Flyertalk Mileage Run thread<\/a>. I will be earning 15,907 miles at 2.4 cents per mile which is ridiculously low.<\/p>\n

I love finding mileage runs and mistake fares and purchasing them for a low price and taking advantage of layover and stopover rules. I have been to Lima four times and Sao Paulo once, so I am pretty excited to re-visit previous destinations. I have never been to Santiago, Chile and I\u2019m pretty excited to explore new grounds in South America. I\u2019m not excited about the $160 reciprocal fee flying into SCL airport, but I guess it\u2019s good for ten years and it won\u2019t be my last visit.<\/p>\n

I will be staying at the Sheraton Lima (already upgraded to a Junior Suite), Sheraton Sao Paulo (upgraded to a Design Suite), Sheraton Santiago, San Cristobal Tower (upgraded using a Suite Night Award), and the W Santiago hotel.<\/p>\n
