There is only one Starwood hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil and that is the Sheraton Sao Paulo WTC (World Trade Center) Hotel. I stayed here last year for three nights and loved the design rooms. This year, I booked two nights on a BRG rate of $199+tax \/ night which made it $500 total tax included. $250 is a bit steep for a Sheraton, but this hotel won me over last year with their top notch service and their infamous Design Lounge.<\/p>\n

Because I invoked Starwood’s Best Rate Guarantee, I was also entitled to 2,000 Starpoints after my stay. I was so glad to have booked this hotel in advanced because a standard room was going for $500+ a night due to an ongoing convention. I used two Starwood Suite Night Awards and was confirmed into a Design Suite.<\/p>\n

There are several ways to get to the Sheraton Sao Paulo from GRU airport. You can take a taxi for $80 USD to the hotel or use the Airport Bus Service that drops you off at the nearby Grand Hyatt for $18 USD per person. From there, it is only a 10-15 minute walk to the Sheraton Sao Paulo. There is another method for $4 USD total if you’d rather take the public bus (onibus) from the airport that drops you off at the Tatuap\u00e9 metro station. You would then transfer to the metro and try to get to CPTM Line 9 and get off at Berrini station. From there, it is a 10 minute walk to the Sheraton Sao Paulo hotel. We took the Airport Bus Service since our flight touched down pretty late and didn’t want bother with more economical bus\/metro method.<\/p>\n

When you enter the lobby, you wouldn’t think it was a standard Sheraton because of the marvelous upscale lobby and beautiful decor. It felt more like a Westin and almost W-like to me. If you are a SPG Platinum guest or booked a Design Room or Design Suite, you can use the dedicated check-in at the Design Floor on the 4th Floor. All you need to do is mention to the front desk agent that you would like to be checked in at the Design Floor and they will check your reservation on their computer. Then, you will be given a one-time use keycard to use in the elevator to reach the 4th Floor.<\/p>\n

The Design Floor desk agent welcomed me to the hotel and notified me that I was upgraded to a Design Suite (I already knew that from checking the SPG app). I opted for the 500 Starpoints as the welcome amenity since breakfast was included in the Sheraton Lounge for Platinum guests. Internet was free for Platinum guests, but you must tell the agent how many devices you will be using or else you will be stuck with access for only one device.<\/p>\n

I went up to the room and was shocked at the room I was given. The Francisco Calio Design Suite has an open bathroom floor plan, meaning no walls and no privacy shades when someone is showering or using the toilet. I was traveling with my friend so it was awkward when it was our turn to use the toilet or take a shower. I made a video of my Design Suite at the Sheraton Sao Paulo.<\/p>\n
