I booked the Sheraton Santiago Hotel and Convention Center for 4,800 Starpoints and $90 before the March 1st Starwood Cash & Points devaluation. From SCL airport, I took a company called TransVIP and it only cost $10 for a shared van that dropped me off in front of the hotel. Luckily, I was dropped off first in a van of 9 people!<\/p>\n

The Sheraton Santiago hotel is located in the Providencia neighborhood of Santiago, Chile. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station called Pedro de Valdivia. I checked in at noon and asked the front desk agent if there were any suite upgrades available. He said that he was able to upgrade me to a junior suite which I appreciated. I took the 500 Starpoints as my Platinum amenity since there is a Club Lounge for breakfast.<\/p>\n

I went up to my room and noticed that the room was in fact not a junior suite, but a Club level room. It was pretty large and can be called a junior suite if they had put a couch in the room. I phoned the front desk agent to notify him that it wasn\u2019t a junior suite and he told me he called the rooms a junior suite because it\u2019s much larger than a traditional room. I was super tired off a flight from GRU (had spent the night at the airport), so I was not in the mood to argue. I checked on spg.com and in fact the Junior Suite was still available and my profile said Club Room King.<\/p>\n

The bathroom was spacious and contained the usual Sheraton amenities.<\/p>\n

I visited the nearby Club Lounge to stock up on drinks, but didn\u2019t have time to try out the evening spread.<\/p>\n

The next morning, I had breakfast in the Club Lounge which contained eggs, bacon, hash browns, cold meats, cheeses, bread, fresh fruit, and juices.<\/p>\n

I would recommend this hotel if you can get a great deal. It makes a great home base if you like to hotel hop for stay credit at the nearby San Cristobal Tower. There are only four Starwood properties in Santiago and the location of the Sheraton Santiago can\u2019t be beat. It\u2019s in a trendy neighborhood of Providencia lined up with local shops and restaurants. Nearby buses and the rapid Metro subway can get you anywhere in Santiago.<\/p>\n
