I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Shanghai city-center, so I booked a hotel room at the Twelve at Hengshan<\/a> which is a Luxury Collection Starwood hotel located in the French Concession. The French Concession is very safe middle to upper-class neighborhood lined up with luxury residential high-rises and trendy shops. There are also a lot of upscale fine dining restaurants and boutique cafes.<\/p>\n

It was a cold and rainy day when I visited the French Concession. It didn\u2019t seem like many people were out and about during the day. There are plenty of luxury high rise residences above the retail shops and restaurant.<\/p>\n

The air quality in the French Concession neighborhood is excellent. It\u2019s surrounded by a plethora of trees and also a large park called Xujiahui.<\/p>\n

There is even a fine dining restaurant in the park called the Restaurant Martin which is owned by Martin Berasategui, a three-star Michelin chef.<\/p>\n

You can find trendy bars, restaurants, and even a movie theater lined up on Hengshan Road.<\/p>\n

Even though the French Concession is a middle to upper-class neighborhood, you can still find night markets and street style stalls that sell food.<\/p>\n

There is even a mobile bookstore in one of the street corners.<\/p>\n

Again, there are plenty of trendy restaurants and boutique shops in the French Concession neighborhood of Shanghai.<\/p>\n

When I was walking back to my hotel, I spotted a group of people doing Taichi nearby a cluster of luxury residential high-rises.<\/p>\n
