I know this is not a family blog, but I found this article quite interesting regarding an increasing number of restaurants banning children during peak hours.<\/p>\n

According to an article from CBS New York<\/a>, \u201cOne restaurant in Texas has a special order for its patrons: \u201chold the kids.\u201d The restaurant has joined a growing number of eateries that have closed their doors on the smallest diners.<\/p>\n

When a baby cries, or a kid-sized meltdown is served up with a restaurant meal, it can be a recipe for stress for other patrons, CBS 2\u2032s Carolyn Gusoff reported Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen them yelling and screaming, and throwing themselves on the floor and walking up to other people\u2019s plates,\u201d one diner said.<\/p>\n

In response to the age-old headache of tiny temper tantrums La Fisheria, a Mexican restaurant in Houston, has instituted a \u201cno customers under 8 after 7 p.m.\u201d policy. Some parents told CBS 2 that they understand.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes you think they\u2019re going to be good and they are. Sometimes they\u2019re not and there\u2019s nothing you can do about it, and it\u2019s embarrassing,\u201d Meredith Boysen said.<\/p>\n

Others said that the policy punishes parents.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would definitely limit our options,\u201d Erin Davidson said. \u201cWe need to get out of the house.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bobby Marisi, the owner of Vincent\u2019s Clam Bar, said that he keeps kids happy with table games, and welcomes them into his restaurant.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to nurture children and teach them how to eat out and be in an environment that\u2019s outside the home with family,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Marketing experts called the ban on kids risky business.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have a number of people who say \u2018if they don\u2019t want my child, I\u2019m not going to go there\u2019, not just in the evening, \u2018I\u2019m not going to go there in the day,\u2019\u201d Hofstra University business professor Dr. Barry Berman said.<\/p>\n

Berman said that because all children aren\u2019t noisy and all adults aren\u2019t quiet, the policy could leave a bad taste in the mouths of some patrons.<\/p>\n

The owner of La Fisheria said that he instituted the policy following complaints from a number of patrons who were bothered by loud children.\u201d<\/p>\n
