According to an article from CBS New York<\/a>, a\u00a0\u201cNew Jersey man wanted to hide his movements from his boss. He ended up interfering with operations at a busy airport instead.<\/p>\n

Now he\u2019s facing a massive fine, CBS 2\u2019s Tony Aiello reported Friday.<\/p>\n

Limo drivers say it\u2019s no big deal \u2014 their employer put GPS trackers in their vehicles.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I have] nothing to hide from my dispatcher,\u201d driver Catherine Fitzgibbons said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m driving their vehicle. They should know where I\u2019m at 24\/7, absolutely,\u201d Will Smith added.<\/p>\n

But a man who works for an engineering company obviously felt differently. Gary Bojczak admitted buying an illegal GPS jammer to thwart the tracking device in his company vehicle, Aiello reported.<\/p>\n

The problem was his work took him near Newark Liberty Airport, and his GPS jammer, which available online for less than $100, interfered with a new GPS-based guidance system called Smartpath being tested at the airport.<\/p>\n

Federal agents tracked the jamming signal to Bojczak\u2019s truck and this week hit him with a big fine \u2014 $32,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a very significant issue,\u201d attorney and aviation expert Brian Alexander told Aiello.<\/p>\n

Alexander said the Federal Aviation Administration is worried and is pushing to expand the use of GPS in aircraft. He said inexpensive jammers could cause big problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo the extent these devices are out there and illegal, they have to send a message and pursue those jammers to make sure that they\u2019re not anywhere near the airports, not being used at the airports,\u201d Alexander said.<\/p>\n

The jamming incident cost Bojczak his job at Tilcon. The company said \u201csafety is paramount \u2014 the company places a high value on the trust established with customers and neighbors. Jeopardizing that trust is unacceptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

No one was endangered during the GPS jamming incident, which happened during a test of the airport\u2019s new system, Aiello reported.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lesson learned<\/b>: Never buy GPS\/Cell Phone jammers online and use them in public, especially in nearby airports. You may face a fine of $32,000!<\/p>\n
