Jeff (indulge the Wanderlust) and I bought a packaged tour for $30 which included a cruise on the Charleston Harbor and admission to the Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens. After the Charleston Harbor Tour, we drove to the Boone Hall Plantation which was located in nearby Mount Pleasant.<\/p>\n

Admission to the Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens granted us access to the Plantation House Tour, Black History in America Exhibit, Garden Tour, Slave Street and History Tour, Plantation Coach Tour, \u201cExploring The Gullah Culture\u201d Performance, and Butterfly Pavilion.<\/p>\n

We parked near the Cotton Gin which was currently undergoing renovation and not open to the public.<\/p>\n

We headed over to Slave Street where there were approximately 9 slave houses. Back then, the bricked slave houses were displayed as houses \u201cfor show\u201d. In reality, there were real slaves working and living in the slave houses. Only the skilled and trusted slaves were granted to work and live in the brick houses. The other slaves were located in the back of the Plantation House.<\/p>\n

Next, we headed to the Plantation House Tour where a lovely lady gave us rich history about the plantation owner\u2019s home. We were not allowed to take pictures inside the home.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, we did a self-guided Garden Tour where there are beautiful flowers and butterflies.<\/p>\n

We were running low on time, so we headed to the scheduled \u201cExploring The Gullah Culture\u201d Performance located behind the last slave house. This was the highlight of the tour as the Gullah performer gave us rich history of the Gullah culture and a spectacular Gullah performance.<\/p>\n

We wanted to do a Plantation Coach Tour, but we ran out of time, so we headed to the stables where there were beautiful horses.<\/p>\n
