One of the best reasons for coming to Bogota, Colombia is having a taste of the regional and local cuisine. I am a huge foodie and absolute love taking in local culture and locally prepared food. Bogota is foodie heaven and it did not disappoint. I split the food segment of this trip report into \u201cVarious Restaurant Eats<\/a>\u201d and \u201cVarious Street Foods<\/a>\u201d so you can make the comparison yourself. I didn\u2019t partake in many of the street foods, mainly because I was so full from dining inside the restaurants.<\/p>\n

Arepas are a huge deal in Bogota and they can be bought off many street carts and hole in the wall restaurants. Arepas are basically Bogota\u2019s flatbread and Colombians eat it with every meal and it can be eaten alone.<\/p>\n

Pastries are also a big deal in Bogota as part of morning breakfast tradition. Most Colombians would have a pastry and a cup of coffee for breakfast.<\/p>\n

Fresh fruit juice can be bought off the street vendors all over Bogota. Most of the street vendors are centrally concentrated in the La Candelaria neighborhood. I had a freshly squeezed cup of orange juice.<\/p>\n

Delicious cold cream oatmeal (crema de avena fria) is also a favorite for breakfast among Colombians.<\/p>\n

You can also find fruit juices with fruit toppings in various street carts. In addition, you can find coconuts and other various Colombian specialty fruits.<\/p>\n

Tinto (Colombian coffee) vendors are also popular in the streets of Bogota.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re on a lunch budget, you can find heartier meals on the street carts for 2,000 Colombian Pesos (~$1.06 USD).<\/p>\n

You can also find street vendors selling grilled corn over charcoal brushed with melted butter and sprinkled with grated cheese. I had a grilled corn with melted butter.<\/p>\n
