I booked the Radisson Blu Helsinki Seaside hotel for 10,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles. The hotel room was going for over $200 with taxes included. I loaded up my GPS on my iPhone when I landed in the main central train station in Helsinki. It was only a 20 minute walk which wasn\u2019t too bad with only my carry-on luggage. It was getting gloomy and very foggy for that afternoon and looked like it might rain, so I speedily walked to my hotel and got there in 15 minutes. The location of the hotel is on the western coast of Helsinki right by the ocean.<\/p>\n

I asked the front desk agent if she could add my Club Carson Gold elite number and she denied me. She said that it was a third party rate and that it wasn\u2019t possible. However, she did mention that my rate included the breakfast buffet. I was later able to get credit and earn points by submitting a \u201cmissing credit\u201d to Club Carlson.<\/p>\n

I was given a standard room and was shocked at how amazing the room looked. There were hardwood floors, upscale d\u00e9cor, and the accented colors matched nicely with the room.<\/p>\n

The room consisted of a King size bed, huge closet space, TV, and a work desk. The work desk contained a coffee maker, cups, phone, keyboard, and plenty of outlets.<\/p>\n

The bathroom was recessed above the hardwood floors, so you have to step up. I hurt my toe a few times by forgetting the bathroom access was not on the same level, so don\u2019t make the same mistake as I did.<\/p>\n

I had to check out early at 4:30am due to an early flight. The front desk agent told me to grab anything from the desk as a breakfast item since I couldn\u2019t partake in the breakfast buffet in the restaurant. I took a few granola bars for the road.<\/p>\n

I walked back to the main train station to catch the Finnair bus back to the airport. It took 15 minutes to get to the main train station and the Finnair bus promptly departed on schedule at 5am. The bus journey took 25 minutes to the airport with no traffic. There isn’t much to do around the hotel since it’s very residential. It can be a bit of a hassle to walk 15-20 minutes back and forth to the city-center. I absolute love walking, so I don’t mind it. I would only stay here if you can find a good rate since it’s far from the touristy areas.<\/p>\n
