I only had a 12 hour layover in Mexico City and wanted a place to use the restroom, shower, recharge my electronics, and use the free Wi-Fi. I booked the Templo Mayor Mexico City hotel for 2,600 AA miles. The nearest metro station to the hotel is Zocalo, which is also known as Constitution Square. It’s only a 10 minute walk from the Zocalo Metro station to the hotel.<\/p>\n

The Templo Mayor Hotel is located in Centro Historico on San Ildefonso Street.<\/p>\n

I checked into the hotel in the afternoon with no intention of staying overnight at the hotel. I told the front desk lady that I was only going to be here for a few hours and she said that was okay. She handed me a TV remote control with an old school key (no electronic locks) attached with a room number.<\/p>\n

The hotel lobby has a pretty cool looking Aztec fountain and the room layout was an open atrium style.<\/p>\n

The standard room had an extra firm king size bed, medicine cabinet, and a mounted LCD TV. It’s definitely a basic and no frills hotel.<\/p>\n

The bathroom was the best part about the room as it contained old Spanish architecture. It reminded me of my stay at the La Quinta Resort hotel<\/a> in La Quinta, CA. There was a working toilet, sink, and shower with hot water.<\/p>\n

The Wi-Fi internet was free and working fast with multiple devices. The room also contained a free bottle of water. Overall, I’m glad I chose this hotel during my short 12 hours in Mexico City. I only used the room for a few hours which was more than enough. I would highly recommend staying here if you have a short layover and\/or don’t want to spend a lot of money on a nicer hotel.<\/p>\n
