I booked the Residencial Londres hotel in Santiago Chile for $29. Initially it was for a single room with a shared bathroom. I put in the notes that I would like to be upgraded to a single room with a private bathroom (never hurts to ask). I booked this particular hotel because I was only in Santiago for less than 11 hours and I just needed a place to take a shower, recharge my electronics, and use the internet. The low price with the combination of it being in the city-center made it a no brainer since I was not going to even sleep on the bed or stay overnight.<\/p>\n

When I visited Santiago, Chile for my first time in April 2013<\/a>, I used a shared shuttle van service called TransVIP to get my hotel. Feeling adventurous, I decided to use a lower cost option to get into the city center which involved taking a bus and metro to my hotel.\u00a0I used the bus service called Centropuerto which leaves SCL International Airport every half hour right outside the arrivals hall. The bus is so big that you cannot miss it.<\/p>\n

It costs 1,350 Chilean pesos ~$2.44 USD for a one way trip to the city or 2,600 Chilean pesos ~ $4.70 USD for a round-trip which is a complete bargain.<\/p>\n

The Centropuerto bus drops you off at the Los Heroes (last stop) metro station. Note the location where the bus drop off point is because that is the exact same location for a bus pick up ride back to the airport.<\/p>\n

I took the subway from the Los Heroes metro station to the Santa Lucia station where it was a 5 minute walk to the Residencial Londres hotel.<\/p>\n

When I got to the hotel, the front desk agent upgraded me to a single room with a private bathroom (with no elite status!). It never hurts to ask in the notes that you would like a better room even if you don\u2019t have elite status. In this case, there is not even a loyalty program at this property.<\/p>\n

The hotel room was basically no frills. On the desk, it says that check out time is at 11am and that breakfast is from 8-10am. In addition, the hotel uses old school keys for the rooms. That\u2019s how old this property is.<\/p>\n

The room contained two twin beds, a TV, a huge dresser, and a bag full of towels. I had never seen towels put in a bag before.<\/p>\n

The bathroom was also pretty basic and contained a sink and a standing shower.<\/p>\n

I definitely hit a huge low as far as hotel rooms go, but it was what I needed. It wasn\u2019t bad for a quick nap, shower, recharge in electronics, and use of the free Wi-Fi for a less than 11 hour trip. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you could get a single room with a private bathroom. In addition, hotels in Santiago are pretty pricy. The location cannot be beat because it\u2019s in a central location located in the city-center of Santiago.<\/p>\n
