Over the past year, I’ve been having a huge relationship issue with Delta Air Lines. There were massive Delta devaluations and then there was the institution of Medallion Qualifying Dollars<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I know I’ve said this before that I won’t be flying Delta Air Lines again, but it’s tough to avoid having a 85,000 Skymiles balance and Delta Gold Medallion Status until 2\/2015. My plan is to use all of my miles this year in conjunction with my Gold Medallion elite status. I will let my Delta Gold Medallion Elite Status expire since I have no interest in re-qualifying for next year. I’m interested in trips to Latin and Central America using Delta Skymiles since they don’t cost as much.<\/p>\n

A few days ago, I was searching for availability to the Guatemala and found a nonstop from LAX. It was only 35,000 Skymiles and $52.60 in taxes for a round-trip in economy class. I don’t remember the last time I’ve sat in the back thanks to constant Medallion upgrades, even on award tickets! I’ve been fortunate enough to get upgraded on most of my Delta flights and there was confirmable Medallion upgrade space on my award ticket to GUA (Guatemala City, Guatemala).<\/p>\n

In essence, I really don’t dislike Delta as much as I say I do. It’s probably the best mid-tier elite status that you can get. The best part about Gold Medallion Elite Status is the 100% bonus redeemable miles even though Skymiles are essentially worth 1 cent per mile.<\/p>\n

My next destinations on blowing Skymiles are probably SAP and ACA. I currently have a redeye flight to Guatemala City and will be arriving early tomorrow morning, so follow me on Instagram<\/a> and Twitter<\/a> for live updates!<\/p>\n
