Last night, I came close to booking a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theflightdeal.com\/2014\/02\/27\/american-dallas-miami-chicago-europe-600-roundtrip-including-taxes\/\" target=\"_blank\">mistake fare to Lisbon for $450<\/a>, but there were too many intangibles such as a 7 day minimum, flights operated on US Airways that aren&#8217;t Systemwide Upgradeable, and dates that really didn&#8217;t work out for me. Instead, I used the last of my Delta Skymiles and booked an award ticket to San Pedro Sula, Honduras.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/02\/sapmr.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9876\" alt=\"sapmr\" src=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/02\/sapmr.gif\" width=\"720\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/welcome-to-honduras-the-most-dangerous-country-on-the-planet-2013-11\" target=\"_blank\">Business Insider<\/a>, Honduras is the most dangerous country on the planet.\u00a0A few weeks ago, <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2014\/02\/13\/thoughts-recent-trip-guatemala-city-guatemala\/\" target=\"_blank\">I visited Guatemala<\/a> (another dangerous country) and it wasn&#8217;t so bad at all. Last year, I traveled to <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2013\/03\/07\/intercontinental-bethlehem-jacir-palace-hotel-review\/\" target=\"_blank\">Palestine<\/a> in the West Bank, <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2013\/05\/08\/sheraton-sao-paulo-wtc-world-trade-center-hotel-review\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sao Paulo<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2013\/06\/07\/trip-report-my-rio-de-janeiro-brazil-mileage-run-vacation\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rio de Janeiro<\/a> (and <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2013\/06\/17\/the-sights-and-sounds-of-the-rocinha-favelas-in-rio-de-janeiro\/\" target=\"_blank\">visited a favela<\/a>), <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2013\/09\/08\/trip-report-my-summer-vacation-to-bogota-colombia\/\" target=\"_blank\">Colombia<\/a>, and have been to <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2014\/02\/21\/trip-report-mileage-run-vacation-buenos-aires-mexico-city\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mexico<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2014\/02\/16\/quick-jaunt-tijuana-rosarito-baja-california-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\">multiple<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/2013\/05\/09\/trip-report-my-multi-city-mileage-run-vacation-to-monterrey-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\">times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been doing some research on San Pedro Sula, Honduras and couldn\u2019t find much on TripAdvisor. In fact, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/ShowForum-g292025-i5687-San_Pedro_Sula_Cortes_Department.html\" target=\"_blank\">forums<\/a> were pretty barren and I am a huge fan of TripAdvisor for advice. There are only 193 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tripadvisor.com\/ShowForum-g292025-i5687-San_Pedro_Sula_Cortes_Department.html\" target=\"_blank\">forum topics<\/a> and the 15th post dates back to August of 2013.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/02\/spsforum.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9875\" alt=\"spsforum\" src=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/files\/2014\/02\/spsforum.jpg\" width=\"609\" height=\"881\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/02\/spsforum.jpg 609w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/02\/spsforum-207x300.jpg 207w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/02\/spsforum-400x578.jpg 400w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/02\/spsforum-200x289.jpg 200w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/pointssummary\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/\/sites\/12\/2014\/02\/spsforum-150x216.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 609px) 100vw, 609px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I mainly want to try some authentic Honduran cuisine and explore some of the cultural aspects of Honduras. As an added bonus, I can check off an additional country off my list.<\/p>\n<p>There isn&#8217;t much to do in San Pedro Sula (so they say), but staying there for three days will definitely give me a feel for the city.
