Auckland Marathon 2013 Race Expo

Auckland Marathon 2013 Race Expo

This was part of my quick walking tour of the city. See the post here.

The Race Expo took place at the Viaduct Events Centre, located here:

I actually got there a few minutes early but there was already a line forming in front of the expo. I had to leave this line because I didn’t have the PDF of the race registration. I walked around and search around for some free wifi. Luckily, certain areas of the city has free wifi so I managed to get my PDF via free city wifi.

The Expo was in a U shape. You walk in to collect your bib and the shirt is further down. The race bag was just to the right at the end of the hall.

Later I found out that there was a table to the right of the entrance for those who didn’t have their marathon bib number. You can go there to find it, which was much more convenient than walking out of the Expo to get it. It is seen in the below picture, adjacent to the Late Entry table. There seems to be an option to sign up for the race during this Expo as they had forms here to fill out, even though it was sold out online for a few weeks.

Just to the right of the start archway, you can find maps of the course along with all the shops for the Expo.

Below was pictures of previous winners of the half and full marathon. A collection of previous tech shirts was also displayed.

There was a decent selection of gear for purchase but this Expo was quite small compared to other marathons I have been to. There was no shop with some of the niche products, such as fuel belts. There may have been compression sleeves but I do not remember seeing them there.
