Sydney 2013: Attractions Combo Pass and Sydney Wildlife

Attractions Combo Pass and Sydney Wildlife

I had bought a 5 attractions combo pass for about 55AUD. The promotion had just started in late October, a few days before I landed in Sydney. I checked the price on December 22nd and it was 81AUD, way too much for these attractions.

Here are the list of attractions as part of the package:

  1. SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium
  2. WILD LIFE Sydney
  3. Sydney Tower Eye
  4. Manly SEA LIFE Sanctuary
  5. Madame Tussauds Sydney

I visited only 4 of the 5 attractions above. I didn’t make it to Manly Sea Life Sanctuary, despite visiting Manly Beach.

Wild Life Sydney

Three of the five attractions in this pass is located in Darling Harbour, which makes it easy to use most of the visits of the pass. I visited the WildLife Sydney Zoo first.

The red painted area is for Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. There was also some Australia trivia in the walkway into WildLife Sydney.

The first exhibit was the Koala, who was up in the tree.

There was an outdoor exhibit of kangaroos. I couldn’t believe how small they were. I expected them to be at least 5 feet tall. The one below was just sleeping.

There was a small outdoor section where you can see them potentially upclose. For the most part they usually stay on the outer rim of the exhibit but sometimes they can get close.

There was also a peacock in the exhibit.

Below was the resident crocodile at Sydney Wildlife. It was quite large. They were hoping that he would mate with another crocodile, but he ended up killing his other potential mates.

Upstairs, there was a Koala exhibit.

Again, you will find him in a tree sleeping. He was very uninteresting.

Another picture of the crocodile.

 Summary

I thought it was a good way to spend an hour or two. I wouldn’t recommend paying the full price just for the zoo, unless you have small kids and/or cannot go to Taranga Zoo. I went because I thought the package was a good deal and wanted to do the touristy things in Sydney.

If you are not a zoo person and only want to see kangaroos and koalas, this would be a good place to see them without much time investment like a trip to Taranga Zoo. There is a large gift shop outside of the WildLife Zoo and also SeaLife so if you want souvenirs, this is also a good place to go.
