Weekly Running Update: March 23, 2014, 7 Continent Edition

It has been a while since I had the time to write a weekly running update.

For the past few weeks, I have been doing a decent taper in between two marathons, Hong Kong, and Antarctica. The next few weeks will be about the same when I get ready for a marathon in early May.

Both weeks, I ran 6 miles 3x a week, and then a long run at 12 miles during the weekend. This was a decent way to recover and attempt to build some conditioning before Antarctica. Luckily, it stayed pretty cold during those two weeks so I had a good change to readjust to the cold temperatures. The previous marathon was in Hong Kong so I needed to adjust to freezing temperatures.

Hong Kong Marathon was my 6th continent in the previous 50 weeks. I had ran a marathon on the Great Wall of China a few years ago so this would be my second marathon on this continent.

I am glad to say I finished the marathon in Antarctica! I am officially ran a marathon on all seven continents. You can see my marathon route on mapmyrun.com. My results are also on the Marathon Tours website: http://www.marathontour.com/index.cfm/page/2014-Antarctica-Marathon-Results/pid/14483

I will have more details about my amazing trip down to Antarctica sometime in April after my Singapore/Malaysia/Hong Kong Marathon trip report.
