The Global Entry program that comes as a free benefit of the American Express Platinum card and United Airlines 1K status allows expedited entry to the USA and some foreign countries allowing to bypass the usual immigration and customs formalities. When you apply you also receive an RFID embedded identity Card that has your Trusted traveler information and Trusted Traveler number for TSA PreCheck’s airport screening. Anyone can apply for the $100 fee good for 5 years, but not everyone is approved.
I have recently been made aware of some people booking hotel in foreign countries using a government discount rate or booking code and using this as their government form of identification for reduced hotel rates. I have even heard of people using this in restaurants that give a military discount. Of course TheMrPickles would never do this as it is very unethical and I have to draw the line some where. Would you ever do this? Is there other uses for the Global Entry card that result in substantial discounts? Feel free to comment below.
