According to this FlyerTalk thread it was announced on FlyerTalk today that effective tomorrow, Friday December 13, 2013 United Airlines will no longer show Singapore Airlines award space online and provide online booking. All bookings using MileagePlus award redemptions must be made via telephone contact with MileagePlus and supposedly will incur telephone booking fees. This is yet another change in the MileagePlus program. The announcement came from the UAInsider account and was signed by Aaron Goldberg, Sr. Manager – Customer Experience Planning.
Singapore Airlines is a Star Alliance member and is considered by many to be one of the world’s premier airlines in services and quality soft product including lounges and onboard comfort. This is a major loss to the online book capabilities of MileagePlus.
If you intend on booking any award tickets on Singapore Airlines you would need to book them online TODAY in order to have full search capabilities. This is reportedly a result of an agreement between United Airlines and Singapore Airlines.
