I hiked the Presidential Traverse in NH but would love to hike New Zealand.

The fine print

All good deals come with fine print.  The Groupon itself contains more fine print, but I tried to include the highlights:

• You must fly out of a west coast airport including LAX, SFO, OAK, SEA, PDX, SAN, and SMF
• You must travel during certain dates in April, May, August, September, October, and November 2016

Conclusion

This deal is excellent.  Airfare on Hawaiian Airlines typically runs over $1,200 between New Zealand and the west coast cities, so you’re basically getting a free hotel room.  You may even be able to credit your Hawaiian Airlines miles to American Airlines.  In addition, you may be able to swap your hotel for a chain hotel of a comparable price which would allow you to credit those stays to the hotel’s elite program.
