$46) for <a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/thetravelingmillennial\/2016\/02\/20\/751\/\">first class on Etihad\u2019s A380 (the plane with the shower and onboard bar!)<\/a>. \u00a0I decided to fly the AUH-JFK route which was about an hour longer than flying in the other direction (jet stream folks). \u00a0I\u2019ll review each segment of my trip:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a Shower<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I flew Etihad&#8217;s A330-300 in economy from Amsterdam to Abu Dhabi, an approximately 7-hour long flight.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366\">Seats<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The economy cabin was laid out in a 2-4-2 configuration. \u00a0I sat in the aisle seat on the right side of the plane.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2017\/02\/20161218_202242-e1486868980220.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a> <a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Legroom was awful. \u00a0If you are over 6&#8242; tall, it will be a tight fit. \u00a0I think I would rather have an entertainment system than additional legroom, but I would rather href=\"http:\/\/www.etihad.com\/en-us\/about-us\/etihad-news\/archive\/2015\/etihad-airways-sees-surge-in-fleet-wide-inflight-connectivity-usage\/\">Etihad advertised in-flight cell reception<\/a>, although\u00a0it did not work with my phone. \u00a0I think I would rather fly on planes that do not have cell phone connectivity&#8211;people can be so inconsiderate in crowded places.<\/p>\n<p><a speaking) movies that I wanted to watch. \u00a0Both the USB and 110v ports worked and were strong enough to charge my devices.<\/p>\n<p><a Iraq.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #003366\">Food<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">You get a menu in economy! \u00a0This is the first time I had received a menu in economy. \u00a0You do not receive many food choices, but I\u00a0appreciated being able to review my food choices before the flight crew took my order.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><span \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I ordered the pasta and tortellini, with the red wine (blend) and sparkling water on the side. \u00a0The food was definitely above average for a long-haul economy flight. \u00a0I ate everything except the red salad. \u00a0The chocolate mousse dessert was by far my favorite dish.<\/p>\n<p><a Notes<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This trip was my first on Etihad and my first on a non-codeshare flight marketed by American Airlines. \u00a0For starters, none of my elite benefits apply to Etihad. \u00a0I received no lounge access (AMS had a priority pass lounge so it worked out), seat upgrades, or additional checked bags. \u00a0I received 0 EQMs and 805 redeemable miles. \u00a0The flight booked into the L fare class on Etihad which earned 25% redeemable miles. \u00a0If the flight would have been a codeshare (with an American Airlines flight number), I would have earned 3,229\u00a0EQMs and 8 miles per dollar spent on the fare.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Etihad has an excellent long-haul economy product and I would not hesitate to fly them again. \u00a0Next time, I\u00a0will double-check the codeshare status of the flight\u00a0to ensure I receive more EQMs and redeemable miles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Etihad A330-300 at AMS.
