Switzerland<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once I landed in Zurich, I picked up my rental car and drove to Zermatt, a small town in the Swiss Alps. \u00a0The views along the way were amazing!\u00a0 I booked a &#8220;Whatever car is leftover&#8221; category from Dollar Rental at the Zurich Airport.\u00a0 &#8220;Unfortunately,&#8221; only a BMW 1 series was available.\u00a0 It was a great car, especially at a price of ~$40 per day.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #003366\">Takeoff and Arrival<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The views on arrival to ZUR were amazing!\u00a0 You can see the snow-capped Alps to the \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Upon landing in Zurich, I rented a car and drove to Zermatt, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #003366\">Driving<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Google Maps said the drive would take 3.5 hours but the closed mountain pass added an additional 90 minutes on my drive.\u00a0 Fortunately, the views on my drive were awesome!\u00a0 Green grass valleys were surrounded by jagged, snow-capped \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #003366\">Furkapass:\u00a0 Attempt 1<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Given that Zermatt is nestled deep in the Swiss Alps, you must traverse a mountain pass to reach the town.\u00a0 Unfortunately, all mountain passes were closed on my way to Zermatt but I was unable to read the signs that warned of the road closure.\u00a0 I drove for an hour down a very sparsely populated valley before reaching the closed mountain pass.\u00a0 As a result, I needed to drive back to Interlaken to drive my car onto a train that would take me through the mountain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2017\/10\/DSC03452.jpg\"><img data-attachment-id=\"1415\"
