Man Busted for Credit Card Scheme

A local story here is raising eyebrows from the points and miles community members. A California man was arrested Sunday for making fake credit cards and using them to buy prepaid gift cards. Sound familiar? I’m sure it does…..I get so bummed when i read articles like this, because its douchebags like this that ruin it for everyone else, who wants to buy gift cards for legitimate purposes. When stuff like this happens, often times, stores will simply change their policies to cash only, and you will not be able to get these gift cards with credit cards, which belong to YOU. I don’t need to remind anyone what happened in the past couple of years with Walgreen’s and Office Depot, but simply to say–we haven’t tasted vanilla ice cream for sometime now at these locations….all because of folks like this. A friendly reminder this holiday shopping season to be on the lookout for fraudulent activity on your credit cards, because someone might be using YOUR name and credit card number, to be making purchases.  I know it happened to me last summer, when Chase called me and woke me out of bed at 7AM on a Sunday verifying a purchase I was making in Muncie, Indiana.  Click on the image below to read the article. I hope in wake of this news, stores locally around Beaverton won’t change their policies to cash only for gift cards. It could make things a bit harder to achieve that first class seat for all of us.  Happy Travels!
