A new year is upon us and the year has already started out ugly.\u00a0 Our Bluebirds were shot out of the sky, and came falling down hard, and Delta devalued their miles even more, making them worse than pesos.\u00a0 So to turn things around, I am getting rid of some old cards and applying for new ones.\u00a0 I do this every 3-4 months, to keep the perks rolling, and to keep my credit healthy.\u00a0 My FICO scores are in the 750 – 789 range, so I should be in great shape for the following cards:
\nChase Business United VISA Card<\/a><\/strong> : 50,000 Bonus miles \/ $2000 spend in 3 months.\u00a0 I recently used up my United miles for a first class ticket, so I need to replenish the bank. This will be a nice and easy way.\u00a0 Remember, these miles can be used for MOST airlines on Star Alliance.\u00a0<\/a> If you are on the fence about picking up this card, I would do so now\u00a0 because the offer is 50,000, where as the standard offer is usually 30,000.
\nBBVA Compass NBA American Express card<\/strong><\/a>: 20,000 points after spending $1000 in 3 months. I value this cash back card as it has 2% on gas and grocery purchases.\u00a0 That percentage goes up to 5% during February for All-Star Weekend, and the NBA Finals in late spring.
\nLaQuinta Returns VISA Card<\/strong><\/a> : 20,000 after first purchase – 2 FREE nights and Gold Status (more on why I’m getting this card later)<\/p>\n

These offers won’t stick around and who knows when they will come back.\u00a0 The Chase United Visa 50,000 offer usually does reappear.\u00a0 However, the other cards I am applying for are more unpredictable, and I am not sure if those perks will reappear again<\/p>\n

My goal is to hit a card from each other majors (i.e US BANK, Chase, Amex, etc)….and leave some wiggle room for cards that have unique seasonal rewards, such as this BBVA Compass NBA card, which nets you $200 cash back, but lets you receive 5% on ALL spending<\/strong> during All-Star Weekend and the NBA Finals.\u00a0 Two weeks of unlimited 5% cash back!\u00a0 That cash will be very useful spending money, when planning my next vacation.\u00a0 So far these cards are on the horizon, but I think I need one or two more cards…preferably Citibank, as currently I only have 3 CITI cards (AAdvantage, Thank You Premier and Preferred).\u00a0 I was going to go for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, but if you don’t know, Chase will most surely deny you if you have applied for more than 5 cards in the past two years.\u00a0 For someone like myself, it’s pretty much a dead end street.\u00a0 So I won’t even go for that card.\u00a0 If you have any ideas for me, shoot me a reply below and let me know which one and why I should get it. .\u00a0 Happy Travels.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
