Mysterious Starwood Hotel Slated To Open in 2008 Set For Jan 2014 Open

There’s a mysterious hotel that frequent visitors to Starwood’s website might be familiar with if you’ve looked for Bangkok properties over the years.  For some time I’ve been watching the proposed timeline for the Starwood Suvarnabhumi (Airport) Golf Resort & Spa eagerly. You see, it would mean a 15 minute commute to my office vs the hour it takes from the Le Meridien Bangkok.  For some time the Starwood website showed an opening date of July 2008 and as you can guess, that slipped. Then, it showed an opening date of December 2012 and yes, that slipped to.  Then, for some time the hotel completely disappeared from the Starwood website.  No trace of it.  When I contacted Starwood’s social media team, they said they had no information about the hotel.

Well, low and behold, as I’m searching for a Bangkok hotel today I noticed that hotel is back on the website, and branded as a Le Meridien again (for some time it had no brand listed on the website.)

In 2008, the property page provided this information: The 214-room golf resort and spa will be located in Samut Prakarn district, within the 160-acre mixed-used enclave comprising Summit Windmill Golf Club, an 18-hole Nick Faldo designed golf course and serviced apartments. The resort is a 40-minute drive from Bangkok. Other facilities include a 1,500 square meter spa with 8 treatment rooms, health club, 900 square meters of meeting space, 4 restaurants and an outdoor swimming pool.(from cashed page.)

Below is a rendering of what the resort will look like
