48 vs 136… is the job board broke at United?

Today, Monday July 28th, job openings are as follows –

  • United has 16 general openings worldwide.  Click on the link HERE to see the listing.
  • United has 32 openings for management and administrative under a link HERE.
  • American Airlines and US Airways have 131 openings in the US.  Click on the link HERE to see the listing.
  • US Airways has 5 openings internationally.  Click on the link HERE to see the listing.

I ran the numbers last week, and United is actually down from 18 general openings to 16.  I just find it puzzling that they have so few openings.

In looking at the United openings, the openings under management and administrative look to be of the most interest for innovation.

  • Specialists and Senior Specialists for Continuous Improvement
  • Senior Analyst, Loyalty Non-Air Redemption
  • Lots of IT/technology jobs

In comparison, the American openings do make me wonder what the future of the combined airlines will bring –

  • Senior Manager Product Planning
  • Analyst / Sr Analyst Digital Strategy
  • Engineer Aircraft Configuration
  • Sr Analyst / Supply Chain Planning and Performance

So, is this innovation or efficient and effective operations…  If the latter, why do I feel my seat getting smaller and fees going up.

Which carrier do you think is heading towards the future?
