<\/p>\nNEW YORK\u00a0and\u00a0JOHANNESBURG,\u00a0July 30, 2013\u00a0\/PRNewswire\/ —\u00a0JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU),New York’s\u00a0Hometown Airline(TM), and South African Airways (SAA) today announced a bilateral codeshare agreement to seamlessly connect the carriers’ networks via\u00a0New York’s\u00a0John F.\u00a0Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and\u00a0Washington’s\u00a0Dulles International Airport (IAD). The agreement is pending U.S. DOT regulatory approval and subject to receipt of foreign government operating authority.<\/p>\n

The partnership \u2013 an expansion of an interline agreement first inked in 2010 \u2013 allows customers to purchase a single ticket combining SAA- and JetBlue-operated flights and enjoy day-of-travel conveniences such as one-stop check-in and baggage transfer.<\/p>\n
JetBlue intends to place its “B6” code on South African Airways-operated flights between the U.S. and both\u00a0Johannesburg, South Africa, and\u00a0Dakar, Senegal, as well as on connecting flights to select destinations beyond\u00a0Johannesburg, including\u00a0Cape Town,\u00a0Durban,\u00a0East London\u00a0and Port Elizabeth,\u00a0South Africa. Tickets will be available for sale at a later date, pending regulatory and government approvals.<\/p>\n
The fastest way to more of\u00a0South Africa\u00a0and southern\u00a0Africa, SAA flies nonstop each day between\u00a0New York\u00a0and\u00a0Johannesburg’s\u00a0O.R. Tambo International Airport and daily between\u00a0Washington\u00a0andJohannesburg\u00a0via\u00a0Dakar’s\u00a0Leopold Sedar Senghor International Airport.<\/p>\n
SAA has had a similar arrangement in place with JetBlue since 2011, placing its “SA” code on JetBlue-operated flights from its U.S. gateways to top destinations including\u00a0Boston,\u00a0Chicago,\u00a0Las Vegas,\u00a0Los Angeles, and\u00a0Fort Lauderdale\u00a0and\u00a0Orlando, Florida.<\/p>\n
