Maybe it\u2019s the pretty people, maybe it\u2019s the amazing food, and maybe it\u2019s just the weather. In any case, after visiting the Hotel Palomar you&#8217;ll have even more reason to smile.<\/p>\n<p>Typically loyal to Starwood, I had to find\u00a0a backup for\u00a0this trip when I found the SLS and W rates were astoundingly high.\u00a0The Hotel Palomar LA is located in a residential part of Beverly Hills about 5 miles from Rodeo Drive and the heart of the city. Parking costs $35 a night \u2013 about average for valet and maybe even low for LA and it&#8217;s very convenient.<\/p>\n<p>Instantly you notice the hotel&#8217;s pet-friendly philosophy with a bone-shaped water bowl and welcome sign\u00a0for the four-legged\u00a0guests. Not being a pet person myself, at a friend\u2019s suggestion, I brought along a stuffed friend. There was plenty of chic seating and places to enjoy happy hour. During evening hours, the hotel lobby beckons\u00a0guests\u00a0with free wine for In Touch members, a great perk (if you drink.)<\/p>\n<p>The front desk\u00a0agents\u00a0were friendly and check-in was quick. As an In Touch member (membership is free) I was offered my raid the mini-bar certificate (a certificate for up to $10 in mini-bar goodies) and free internet access (that might cost you up-to $15 at another hotel that only offers free internet for top level preferred guests).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_9153\" style=\"width: 265px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9153\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-9153\" src=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/verygoodpoints\/files\/2015\/07\/Palomar-Bed-2-255x341.jpg\" alt=\"Bed\" width=\"255\" height=\"341\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/verygoodpoints\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/\/sites\/2\/2015\/07\/Palomar-Bed-2-255x341.jpg 255w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/verygoodpoints\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/\/sites\/2\/2015\/07\/Palomar-Bed-2-224x300.jpg 224w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/verygoodpoints\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/\/sites\/2\/2015\/07\/Palomar-Bed-2.jpg 1195w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 255px) 100vw, 255px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9153\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bed<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I was \u201cupgraded\u201d to a room with a view on the corner of the hotel. The room was not large, but had ample space and did have a very nice view. The bathroom was stocked\u00a0and included\u00a0a\u00a0Zebra Print Robe and luxe amenities in the shower. The room was dark but bold and modern &#8211; I could have taken home about 10 accessories that would have looked fabulous in my condo. If you\u2019re in a hurry, you\u2019re best to tell your server and get your check right away. The servers had a tendency of disappearing for long stints at times.<\/p>\n<p>I had the opportunity to order room service while I stayed at the Palomar. The food was delivered quickly with all the appropriate sides. I ordered fresh-brewed Iced Tea and I was delighted when they brought me two glasses for the price of one. I\u2019ve never stayed at a hotel where room service brought an extra glass of anything without specifically requesting it. My stay made me\u00a0remember that\u00a0there\u2019s more than the W in the world of trendy, chic hotels.
