ever since i heard about and saw pictures of Bagan, i knew i had to go. as i’ve said before, i’d suggest going to Angkor Wat first, since it’s a bit more accessible and gives you a good background that will help you appreciate what Bagan has on offer. but either way, it’s well worth a visit, especially if you’re a fan of sacred spaces and ruinporn.
just imagine, standing on the top tier of a temple, looking out over a vast plain with spires dotting the landscape as far as you can see. that feeling of peace and serenity and amazement…truly a religious experience.
and the famed sunset, one of the most magnificent i’ve ever seen (puts other “must-see” sunsets to shame, imho).
Goregous, I can almost hear the silence, and the wind rustling the trees if I close my eyes. Thanks for the peaceful start to my day.
thanks! the key is early morning. you seemingly have the whole valley to yourself the earlier you go.
