Get a Sneak Peek at SFO’s New Terminal 3E

a couple years ago, when the then-new Terminal 2 was about to open, SFO had a community open house where you could get a preview of the newest addition to the airport. i went and met up with a few FlyerTalk people and it really was pretty cool! yes, it was a bit odd to be in a terminal where there are no planes or loudspeaker announcements, but the chance to ooh and aah before the flying public? priceless.

Terminal 3 Boarding Area E is set to open on the 28th of this month (January 2014), but the airport is hosting a free open house on Saturday the 25th. if you’re interested in going, you need to reserve a time — there are hourly arrival time slots from noon until 4 (open until 5). you’re more than welcome to stay past your designated arrival hour. i booked the first time slot and hope to see y’all there!

according to the event organizers, not only will we get to admire what the new building has to offer, but:

T3E Community Day will include activities and entertainment provided by T3E’s partners and local organizations. Guests can participate in interactive games for a chance to win exciting prizes including two round-trip tickets on United.

as a primarily-United flyer [for now?], i’m really excited to see this open up — it’ll be a nice addition to their terminal. no longer do i have to be jealous of American and Virgin America flyers who get to use the now-ancient-history Terminal 2!

from last time (eep!):
