for the past several days, i’ve passed by St. Anne’s Church (Šv. Onos bažnyčia) and the Bernardine Church (its full tongue-twisting name: Church of St Francis from Assisi (Bernardine)) on the way from my Airbnb in Užupis to the center of the Old Town — but never stopped in until this morning. the pictures below are of the exterior of St. Anne’s — something to behold — which contrast well with the stark interior of its neighbor, the Bernardine Church.
it didn’t appear that St. Anne’s was open for visits (just the Bernardine), but i can see, though, why it’s (apocryphally) said that Napoleon wanted to take it home in the palm of his hand — it’s pint-sized yet striking.
