A (Photo) Walk Through Souq Waqif, Bahrain

Waqif Central Market, Bahrain

Southwest of Manama in Hamad Town stands a marketplace, Souq Waqif. The first row of merchants are fruit and vegetable sellers. Behind them are bicycle parts and clothing, and the furthest back row are birds and rabbits.

You really can’t get more authentic than this, although if your needs are a bit more than this mini-souq can offer, there is a large supermarket across the street.

  1. Around this souk area is the best falafel I’ve had , ever.
Nice to see your posts about Bahrain. I grew up there. I follow a lot of points and miles blogs, but haven’t seen anyone ever talk about/cover Bahrain. Hope you enjoy your trip. My family still lives there, so if you need anything, or any advice on where to go/what to do there, let me know.
