{"id":3121,"date":"2013-07-04T15:15:22","date_gmt":"2013-07-04T22:15:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jett.in\/?p=3121"},"modified":"2013-07-04T15:15:22","modified_gmt":"2013-07-04T22:15:22","slug":"my-first-thai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/first2board.com\/wanderlusty\/2013\/07\/my-first-thai\/","title":{"rendered":"My (First) Thai"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>i&#8217;ve already left a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.routehappy.com\/members\/a64ca39b9300530670d7\/permalink?review_id=b01fa978496b671f1f9143e605c0e1ba\">review on routehappy<\/a> for my flights yesterday on ANA&#8217;s international configuration 787 (SJC-NRT) and Thai&#8217;s A380 (NRT-BKK), but i needed to continue gushing about how great my first Thai experience was. (which, by the way, makes it <a title=\"Star Alliance Airline Roll Call [updated 2013-07-04]\" href=\"http:\/\/jett.in\/star-alliance-airline-roll-call\/\">my 18th Star Alliance airline<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>i mean sure, who doesn&#8217;t love flying on an A380, which i affectionately refer to as the lumbering whale because of how it feels when you take off and land, but the cabin crew made it my first (and possibly only, though i am anxious to see what my Singapore A380 will be like in a week and a half) 10 out of 10 rating. the upper deck economy section was less than 20% full, which may have contributed to the personalized service, but it was better than domestic (United) first class and international Lufthansa business. i&#8217;m hoping this is a true indicator of what everyone can expect. if this was their &#8220;Royal Orchid Service&#8221;, they certainly have a right to give it a name and be proud of it.<\/p>\n<p>some of the things that stood out:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>i knew i was in for something special when everyone (<em>everyone<\/em>) greeted me with a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thai_greeting\">Thai greeting<\/a> as i made my way through the plane while boarding.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 13px\">food and drink order taking. no carts. no menus handed out on laminated cards. even post-dinner tea and coffee orders.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>fleece blankets in coach! (p.s. i&#8217;m sticking my tongue out &#8212; my lips are not that luscious.)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3122\" alt=\"IMG_0078\" src=\"http:\/\/jett.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_0078.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/wanderlusty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/\/sites\/48\/2013\/07\/IMG_0078.jpg 640w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/wanderlusty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/\/sites\/48\/2013\/07\/IMG_0078-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/wanderlusty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/\/sites\/48\/2013\/07\/IMG_0078-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/wanderlusty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/\/sites\/48\/2013\/07\/IMG_0078-624x624.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>smoked salmon in coach!<\/li>\n<li>constantly coming by to offer tea or juice or water. none of this &#8220;i&#8217;mma hide out in the galley gossiping and reading my magazine until the flight is over&#8221; business for these flight attendants!<\/li>\n<li>someone cleaned up the lavatory after each use, putting a seat cover on and ruffling up the toilet paper and spraying some cologne<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3123\" alt=\"IMG_0081[1]\" src=\"http:\/\/jett.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/IMG_00811.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"387\" srcset=\"http:\/\/first2board.com\/wanderlusty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/\/sites\/48\/2013\/07\/IMG_00811.jpg 640w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/wanderlusty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/\/sites\/48\/2013\/07\/IMG_00811-300x181.jpg 300w, http:\/\/first2board.com\/wanderlusty\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/\/sites\/48\/2013\/07\/IMG_00811-624x377.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>when they handed out landing cards, they handed out pens! no rummaging in your bag, no asking a flight attendant or a neighbor to borrow one only to be watched like a hawk (i learned my lesson long ago to carry a pen with me at all times!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>so yeah, suffice it to say, the bar for economy class is that much higher now. good luck, everyone else.<\/p>\n<p>p.s. i made note in my routehappy review of the very handsome male model in the A380 safety video. here it is:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>i&#8217;ve already left a review on routehappy for my flights yesterday on ANA&#8217;s international configuration 787 (SJC-NRT) and Thai&#8217;s A380 (NRT-BKK), but i needed to&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":59,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_mi_skip_tracking":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"jetpack_publicize_message":"My (First) Thai #travel #travelblog \/@ThaiAirways","jetpack_is_tweetstorm":false,"jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false}}},"categories":[12],"tags":[687,721],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.13 -
