Art in Buenos Aires"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>a sequence of events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a friend on twitter mentioned that <a href=\"http:\/\/evitaonbroadway.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Evita<\/em> was coming back to broadway<\/a><\/li>\n<li>made me watch my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aK7Nr8ag0aE\" target=\"_blank\">favorite clip from the film<\/a> (yes, i think madonna did a fine job, in case you were wondering)<\/li>\n<li>seeing them tango in that youtube video brought back memories of learning and trying to tango at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lamarshall.com.ar\/\" target=\"_blank\">a gay milonga<\/a> during my trip to Buenos Aires the summer (their winter; <a href=\"http:\/\/twitpic.com\/24muyc\" target=\"_blank\">so cold<\/a>!) of 2010<\/li>\n<li>i sometimes forget that i was fortunate enough to go to BsAs <a href=\"http:\/\/twitpic.com\/24e5kj\" target=\"_blank\">for work<\/a> (and extend it a little) since i don&#8217;t have pictures up on Flickr &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/media\/set\/?set=a.10150217884595542.453389.824285541&amp;type=3&amp;l=b91ce2978b\" target=\"_blank\">they&#8217;re on facebook<\/a>\u00a0&#8212; which serves as my main travel memory<\/li>\n<li>looking through that photo album, i realized i absolutely did forget about \u00a0the great street art scene there, which i wouldn&#8217;t have discovered if i didn&#8217;t try have dinner at 7 (thus necessitating a walk around town until ithe restaurant opened).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10150218065065542&amp;l=349980624b\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10150218065255542&amp;l=3b082e2a2b\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net\/hphotos-ak-ash2\/35375_10150218065255542_824285541_13395222_3958754_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"720\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>this last work (not sure if the phrase was part of the original or not) was one of many gay-marriage-themed pieces around the city (down to stickers on payphones) having to do with the gay marriage law that was before legislature (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2010\/WORLD\/americas\/07\/15\/argentina.gay.marriage\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">which passed<\/a>\u00a0while i was there &#8212; super cool to be present for that!).<\/p>\n<p>and, no talk of art and buenos aires can be complete without mentioning the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Obelisk_of_Buenos_Aires\" target=\"_blank\">Puente de la Mujer<\/a> by my favorite architect, Santiago Calatrava. a must-see (and walk) for me while i was there!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=10150217885360542&amp;l=4ef1fbb31a\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\"
