Epic Chicago Weekend Trip Introduction

Epic Chicago Weekend Trip Introduction

This post is the Epic Chicago Weekend Trip Introduction.

Chicago Trip

Before my trip to Chicago, I checked out the Lonely Planet Chicago Guide and planned for an Epic Weekend.

I recently had an Epic Weekend in Chicago celebrating a friend’s birthday. The trip took place over the St. Patricks Day celebrations so I got to experience the green river!

That was pretty amazing seeing how dark green the water was. It was also a beautiful sunny weekend which made it easy to walk around and explore in the city.

I arrived before my friends did on Friday so I spent a lot of time walking around the city.

I made a stop at Millennium Park to see the Bean.

Normally I don’t take selfies but since everyone was doing it, why not?

After the selfie, I checked out some of Chicago’s best attractions!

The weekend was not complete without some classic Chicago Deep Dish Pizza.

Booking

The trip includes flights on Delta and hotel stays at the DoubleTree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile and Hilton Chicago O’Hare Hotel.

I paid for the airfare and hotel in cash and used one of my travel credit cards to earn miles and points. Airfare to Chicago is normally pretty inexpensive and it is such a short flight that it does not make sense to redeem miles for it. In addition, the hotels were both under $100 a night, so that also made paying in cash more attractive than redeeming points.
