The Mercado Municipal in Sao Paulo is the largest market for fresh produce in Brazil. To get here, you will need to take Metro Blue Line and get off at the Sao Bento Station. You will cross many side streets full street vendors hawking their wares. Think of the streets like a flea market filled with cheap clothing and low quality goods. By all means, it’s a great place to go souvenir shopping.

Once you pass all the vendors, you will see the facade of the Mercado Municipal.
This is the main entrance and there are actually about 8 different entrances to the Mercado Municipal.
Once inside, you will see a lot of vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables.
Poultry and ham are also hanged from the vendor stalls along with fine cheeses.
