If you’re planning to go to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil within the next few months and have an extra ticket to sell, you will need to get on it as soon as possible. For some events, you can make some serious money such as the opening match in Sao Paulo and the final match in Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium.
The third party reseller business for selling World Cup tickets is huge and there are a lot of companies out there. The best one I’ve found is a website called viagogo.com since they have all the matches listed with a large proportion of tickets.
Once you register on viagogo.com, you will need to find your event and list your tickets. Bear in mind that once you list your tickets for the World Cup, you will get an e-mail from viagogo telling you to send in proof that you have the ticket in hand. You will get an e-mail that’s similar to this message:
Thank you for listing your tickets for the FIFA World Cup 2014.
viagogo is a marketplace that provides a safe and secure platform for people to trade tickets. Due to the nature of our online services, as well as the importance of this event, we require an additional security measure.
We would like to check the validity of the tickets you listed on our website. Please send a proof of purchase within 24h. If you fail to do so, we will not be able to activate your tickets for sale. Please note that we are not able to accept listings for tickets that need to be collected locally, all tickets must be shipped to the customers. If you are unable to fulfil your orders, these will be replaced at market prices and you will be held liable for any additional cost.
Please do not reply to this message, as this email address does not accept incoming email. If you have any further enquiries please contact us.
Thank you for using viagogo!”
Once you have submitted your actual proof of the World Cup tickets in hand, you will get another email similar to this:
We are pleased to inform you that your listing has been approved and it is now listed for sale on our website.
Please note that you are not allowed to increase the number of tickets indicated in your listing. If you wish to list more tickets for this event, please create a new listing.
If you no longer have these tickets please make sure you deactivate your listing as all sales are final.”
Their website makes it easy to buy and re-sell World Cup tickets. Viagogo also makes selling popular Olympic events much easier than Stubhub. The clock is ticking if you have World Cup tickets burning in your hand and can’t make the event.
