DUO Steak and Seafood Dinner Experience
This post is a review of my dinner at DUO Steak and Seafood.
As some of you know, I am a foodie and I love eating out and trying new foods.
During my trip to Maui, my wife and I had the opportunity to dine at DUO Steak and Seafood at Four Seasons Maui. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating adjacent to the pools at the beautiful resort in Maui.
Four Seasons Maui
The Four Seasons Maui is located in the Wailea area in a quiet and residential setting in Maui. The hotel offers a beautiful beach as well as a large pool deck with cabanas, food and beverage venues and plenty of areas to relax.
The best feature is the water fountain located at the center of the resort. At night the area is lit up neatly setting a relaxing and upscale tone.
DUO Steak and Seafood
DUO Steak and Seafood is the gourmet steak and seafood restaurant located adjacent to the pools directly below the lobby.
The restaurant offers traditional steak and seafood options with Hawaiian flair.

The menu offered appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, sides and accompanying items.
In addition, a health food menu was also available for guests who wanted gourmet foods that were more on the light side.
My wife and I arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and were greeted immediately by a friendly hostess who asked for our name. After I provided it, she used it and she welcomed us to the restaurant. The hostess said the host would seat us shortly.
About a minute later, the host approached us, greeted us using our name and he welcomed us and invited us to follow him to the table. The host offered my wife a small blanket so she could be comfortable on the windy night.
The hostess escorted us to the table and he pulled out the chair for both of us, presented the menu and he informed us that the server would be at the table shortly.
We were given a table overlooking the pools and cabanas.
The table was setup for two people with elegant flatware, dishes and glasses.
The menus were clean and in good condition.
The server greeted us promptly using our name and he welcomed us to the restaurant. The server introduced himself and he made light conversation with us.
The server suggested we have a cocktail before dinner or a glass of wine and he highlighted some of the options in the menu.
The server also discussed the menu and he highlighted items from each section as well as the seafood dish of the day which was sea bass.
The server provided time for us to review the menu before he returned to take our drink orders.
We both ordered a Mai Tai, which the server recommended as a refreshing drink to welcome us to the restaurant. He served the drink a couple minutes later.
After serving the drinks, the server offered to answer questions from the menu before taking our order. When we asked a question, he was able to describe in detail how a dish was prepared and what went well with it. The server also made additional recommendations after we ordered our initial items.
Once our order was complete, an assistant provided a basket of warm bread. The assistant also kept our water glasses filled throughout the meal. He also maintained the table and picked up our used dishes.
The appetizers were served a few minutes later simultaneously and they were presented to the correct person. The server checked back with us two times while we were enjoying the appetizers.
A few minutes after we finished the appetizer, the entrees were served.
The entrees were also served to the correct guest. The assistant serving them said he would be right back with the side items. Those were served a minute or two later.
The server also poured our wine to accompany dinner at the same time the entrees were served.
The server checked in with us again once the entrees were served and throughout the entrée course.
After we finished the entrée, the server suggested an after dinner drink and desert and he presented a menu so we could review the options.
We ordered one dessert to share and the server offered an after dinner drink as well. We declined and he thanked us.
The dessert was served a few minutes later.
After we finished the dessert, the server returned and he asked how we enjoyed it. He suggested we have a espresso, coffee or tea to conclude the meal. We declined and he thanked us.
The server provided cool towels to clean our hands at the end of the meal as well as fresh cotton candy.
The server thanked us sincerely using our name and he invited us back in the future. He thanked us sincerely for the tip that we left for the meal.
We selected the beet salad and octopus’ appetizer for the first course.
The beet salad was served chilled on a white plate. The salad consisted of baby greens, romaine and vegetables with beets and cheese in a mild dressing. The vegetables were fresh and they had an incredible flavor. The cheese was creamy and melted in our mouth. The beets were also fresh and sweet and they had a good flavor. The portion size was excellent for one person. The dish was presented well.
The octopus’ appetizer was also served chilled on a white plate. The octopus was tender and it was smoked and served over a chimichurri sauce along with a few vegetables. The octopus was mild and it had an excellent flavor. The sauce tasted of fresh herbs and it enhanced the octopus and paired well with it. The portion size was also excellent for one person. The dish was elegantly presented.
Four entrees we ordered the Sea Bass and Filet.
The Sea Bass was served on a white square plate. The Sea Bass was fresh and it was cooked to perfection. The Sea Bass was tender and flavorful. It was served next to a tomato that was topped with cheese and baked slightly. The tomato was fresh. A mild white sauce was served with the Sea Bass. The sauce was fresh and it had a rich flavor that complimented the fish. The portion size was large and it was presented attractively on the plate.
The sea bass was paired with a glass of Michel Redde Sancerre from France. The wine was light and flavorful and it paired well with the fish.
The Filet was cooked medium as requested. The filet was placed neatly on a decorative plate with onions and rosemary on one side and a peppercorn sauce in a container on the other side. The filet was tender and it was easy to cook. The filet had an amazing taste and it was seasoned well. The peppercorn sauce was fresh and it added to the flavor of the steak. The onions were grilled and they had a good taste. The portion of the steak was excellent and it was presented well.
The steak was paired with a glass of Groth Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. The wine was bold in flavor without any after taste. It was an exceptional pairing with the steak.
For the sides we ordered Truffled Lobster Mac and Cheese and Brussel Sprouts with Bacon.
The Truffled Lobster Mac and Cheese was served hot. The dish consisted of fresh mini penne pasta topped with cheese, a white sauce, lobster and the truffle shavings. The pasta was cooked excellently. The cheese was rich and creamy and full of flavor. The lobster was tender and fresh and it was generously mixed throughout the dish. The truffles added a luxury taste to the already decadent dish. The portion was excellent to share and it was presented well.
The Brussel Sprouts with Bacon were served hot. The Brussel sprouts were roasted and they were seasoned well. The dish was served with bacon and onions which were both fresh and had an excellent taste.
For dessert we ordered the vanilla bean cheesecake.
The cheesecake was served chilled and it was presented elegantly on a plate. The cheesecake had a sweet vanilla taste that was complimented by a hint of lime with a small banana sorbet at the center of the dish. The portion size was small but it was a perfect ending to the meal. The cheesecake was light and it was displayed attractively on the plate.
The restaurant featured a kitchen that was visible through a clear glass window.
The restaurant also offered elegant decorations and flowers throughout.
A bar was available near the entrance and it was stocked well and all of the bottles were displayed neatly.
The restaurant was noted to be clean and in excellent condition.
The dishes, glasses, plates, flatware and linens were all clean and in excellent condition.
The lighting was all operating and in good condition and was clean.
When my wife and I departed the table, two assistants thanked us sincerely and wished us a good night.
As we were departing near the host stand the hostess thanked us and she wished us a pleasant evening and she invited us to return.
This was an incredible dinner. The service was exceptional. The server was knowledgeable friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was full of flavor and it was presented elegantly which enhanced the meal. The environment was calm and it was awesome sitting near the cabanas and pool area and being able to feel the breeze while we enjoyed our meal. I would highly recommend DUO Steak and Seafood for your next trip to Maui.
