News Update Honolulu Sydney for cheap Around the World Trip

Good morning. I hope you all had a good weekend. I had a fun weekend in Chicago celebrating my friends birthday and exploring the city.

Over the weekend I read a lot of articles online and I picked out a few to share with you today. Have you read anything this week that is worth sharing?

News Update

Honolulu-Sydney $199 O/W Nonstop on Boeing 787 – That is a pretty cheap fare. The service is on a great aircraft from Boeing and it is serviced by discount airline Jet. I’ve never been on the airline before but at that price its a hard deal to pass up.

Booking Around-The-World Tickets With Miles: Step 1, Plan – An around the world trip in business class would be an awesome experience. It looks like the routing via Singapore Airlines will be pretty epic. It is nice to know they eliminated a lot of the fuel surcharges on their own flights now.

Save Time Searching for Award Seats on Oneworld Airlines With Award Finder – It is often time consuming searching for award travel. This new tool can help reduce that time. Have you used it?

Are you Caught in The Status Trap? – This is something that I’ve found myself caught in over the years. In the past, focused on SPG and then Hyatt. Now I am on the Hilton but because I have the status from the credit card, it is not as important to stay loyal. The post brings up some good points that you often may disregard some amazing properties because they are not part of your preferred brand.

The Perverse Way Hilton Rewards Their Best Customers Least – Speaking of Hilton, it appears they targeting only non-members for certain bonus promotions or cash back. I use cash back and point earning portals whenever I can and it is disappointing when you earn way fewer points or cash back if you have loyalty to a company. That makes you question your loyalty.  If you haven’t signed up for some of them yet, you could use my links for additional bonus opportunities: Ebates, TopCashBack.

Introduction: Flying 5,418 Miles for a Pizza and a Bagel – I’m a bit of a foodie and love everything from simple street food to find dining. I can say I have made day trips in order to do that. This is an interesting write up about an upcoming trip report on flying the long way from Dallas to New York.

I’m not necessarily bothered by Hilton offering a bigger cash back bonus to non-elites, but I think the execution was rather ham-handed. They should have just made it available only to new Honors members and/or those without status. At least that way, it’s clear and transparent that Hilton is specifically running a promotion to get new customers in the door. I’d think the vast majority of elites would be understanding of that.
