US City in Review: Virginia Beach

I love going to the beach so I take the chance to use my vacation/points there when I can. I went to Virginia Beach twice this year for the Patriotic & Neptune Festival. Virginia Beach hosts several events throughout the year including fishing tournaments, concerts, and many running races. This place has a plethora of hotels to stay at but for events you need to book early since they fill up! I had stayed at the Holiday Inn. Express and the Holiday Inn. & Suites and they were both great properties with views of the beach.
Along the beach and Atlantic Ave there are many places to each and get drinks. One place I went which I thought was delicious was Captain George’s Seafood Buffet. They have excellent all you can eat crab legs and a variety of items to satisfy the masses. There is also many pizza places to choose from but the one I liked the best was Dough Boy’s California Pizza.

So about the festivals, I really loved the Patriotic festival! They had the blue angels there along with many other types of planes. The coolest ones were the planes that wrote messages in the sky.

They also made a heart which I took a pic of above. They also had Miranda Lambert and the Pistol Annies perform at the festival to honor the military and veterans who have served our country. I thought it was a wonderful experience.

The Neptune festival got rained on but it was still fun! Here over 100 art and food vendors come set up their tents for people to browse or buy. There were really cool ideas that I got for arts and crafts and of course I couldn’t resist a turkey leg. They also hosted the North American sand sculpting championship.

I was truly amazed at the detail of the sculptures, they were amazing!

So If you haven’t been to VA beach, it is a fun time during the summer or during one of their festivals!

Feel free to follow me on twitter or facebook. Thanks!
