Telling My Chernobyl Visit Story Via Maptia

i put in a request a while back for access to Maptia, an easy way to put together map-based pictorials. my invitation finally came and i put it to the test by creating a story about my visit to Chernobyl last year.

it seems to load a bit wonky, though, depending on the browser (especially Chrome, which seems to be problematic for me when it comes to the map portion of the page).

while i like what it does (and it sure is pretty), i am not sure how i will use it. Storify [profile] is easier to use given my style (lots of twitter plus easy pulling in from various sources), and i have my blog for longer and more detailed posts. neither of those come close to the visual beauty of Maptia, though. well, the product is still in its infancy so i’ll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

p.s. compare my Maptia and Storify versions of my Chernobyl day and let me know what you think in the comments!

  1. Wow, pics are haunting. Both loaded for me in chrome–and I actually had less trouble with the photos loading in Maptia than Storify. Very cool.
