Montreal F1 Grand Prix This Weekend!

This weekend I am up in Montreal to watch the F1 Grand Prix. This is the first F1 race I went to so I’m pretty excited to see those cars race around the track at close to 200mph.

Montreal is a five hour drive from Boston so I’m up here with a friend. Grandstand tickets for this venue was not bad, around 150CAD, much lower than at other venues (Austin was about $240 and would have to consider airfare). We left Boston a little late due to traffic but almost no one was at the border so we sailed right through. My friend who was driving almost missed the warning signs for the border as there were almost no cars.

I used points to stay at the Sheraton near the airport. The bad part is that its about an hour bus/train ride to the venue. There is no parking at the track but is serviced by a metro station. Tomorrow we may try to find a metro station we can park at to save some time commuting from the hotel to the race track. The Sheraton has a free shuttle to the airport and they were giving their guests complimentary metro/bus passes this weekend for the F1 race so that was nice.

The hotel TV had a spare HDMI cable so I plugged in my laptop to watch a few episodes of Top Gear. Most hotel don’t have a spare cable for you to use.

My friend bought the tickets and it was mailed to him about a week later. They even come with FIA approved ear plugs for the race (in the white cylinder above the tickets!
