IHG Rewards Club Buy Points Mystery Bonus

Earn a 25% to 100% IHG Rewards Points Bonus

Intercontinental Hotel Group is joining the Mystery Bonus game with its own Buy Points Mystery Bonus promotion where you can earn a 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% bonus until April 21st. Included under the IHG umbrella are Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, and others. The promotion is right ahead of the upcoming Points Break Hotels List which will be announced on Monday, the 24th of March.  IHG is also known for holding Flash Sales where discounts of up to 75% are offered on select properties.

When you access the site at Points.com you will be asked to supply your name, membership number and PIN.IHG Mystery2

You will then be redirected to a page where your bonus opportunity will be shown. I was lucky enough to receive the 100% bonus offer.IHG Mystery Points

You may purchase points in 1,000 point increments:

  • 1,000 – 10,000 points for $13.50 per 1,000 points
  • 11,000 – 25,000 points for $12.50 per 1,000 points
  • 26,000 – 60,000 points for $11.50 per 1,000 points

If you opt for the maximum amount allowed, you can see that 120,000 points (60K + 60K) will cost you $690.IHG Mystery3

The cost of buying the maximum number of points with the 100% bonus works out to $.00575 each.

Does buying points with IHG make sense? If you can use these for Point Breaks or if you have upcoming travel plans where you would like to use them for an Intercontinental stay, then this would be a great way to get the points you need…but only if you qualify for the 100% bonus. 100,000 points is enough for two award nights in IHG’s top-tier Category 9 hotels. Before you purchase, do the research necessary to find where the redemption would give you the most value. For example, if you wanted to book a reward night at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand it would cost 50,000 points or € 330.00 ($455.20) a night. A two night reward would typically cost $910 so by buying 50,000 (+50K) at $575 , you would essentially save $335 for the booking if you purchased the points.IHG Mystery4

Even though you can buy IHG Rewards Club points at 0.7 cents each by doing Cash and Points scheme, if you qualify for the 100% bonus here, you will get an even better deal.

As I will be traveling to Vienna in May I think I am going to take advantage of this offer.  A night at the Intercontinental Vienna is 35,000 points a night or € 209.00 ($289) . I can purchase those points for $200 and save myself $198 for the stay. Then again, I may just have to plan a trip to Paris!

What was your bonus?  Where could you use 100,000 IHG points?
