Day 2 of #milemadness: Office Max Rant

So I was suppose to have an easy day of Visa GC churning at Office Max with this deal but the coupon wasn’t working nationwide because they didn’t have the right giftcards in stock. Well I’m thinking, the ad doesn’t specify a type of visa, they all look the same to me! So here is my success/fail:

OM#1 – Manager overrode the system and gave me the credit so only paid $500 for $500 in giftcards. So broke even and made 2,500 in Ultimate Reward points using my Chase Ink

OM#2 – Staff charged me for the full total including fees but issued me a refund of $30. So total cost 499.75 and another 2,500 UR points.

OM#3 –  They had giftcards in stock but wouldn’t give me an override or refund of $30. Manager gave me his card and said to call to check when they get the correct giftcards in.

OM#4 – They pulled all the Visas off the rack and told me to come back another day.

Ok OM…why would you have a promotion and not make sure you have the appropriate cards in stock! I have a churning contest I’m trying to win 😉 So I gave up my search for the day and moved on to other items.

I did $1,000 in Paypal cards, $1,000 in Visas and unloaded via bb, and $2,000 in MO with Suntrust.

Man trying to churn this much everyday is going to be exhausting…I’m already loosing momentum and it’s only day 2! On a positive note, I’m working on getting a 3rd Bluebird so this will help alot!

  1. I had a couple of stores refuse to sell to me as well. It was brutal today! Hopefully they fix their coupon soon!

It was so tiring driving around everywhere that I had to take a nap afterwards lol. At least you had some success!

  2. I went to three OM locations today. They all did some form of the refund. Crazy that they couldn’t get this figured out. Did you not find any $200 cards? Much better than the $100 cards since you make a little money and they are easier to dispose of.

None had 200 GC unfortunately. I’m going to call them tomorrow or Tue to see if they have the correct ones in stock. And yes…10 $100 took some time to unload. Glad you had success though 🙂

  3. Hi, how many bluebird cards can you have? do you need different addresses or just different emails? do you use different versions of your name? For example, I could use Chris or Christopher. Just curious, I have 1 and would like another one.

Only one per SSN but if you have family and friends that will let you use their SSN then you can get more than one.

  4. Since I’m not in #milemadness I’m waiting for them to figure it out before I head to OM around here…
