AA Reduced Mileage Awards Available Through July

American Airlines reduced mileage awards are out through July! In order to take advantage of these reduced mileage awards, you must have the specified CitiAA credit cards listed:

CitiAA credit cardsHaving these cards can get you 7,500 miles off your flight. You can even book one way awards. Thus a roundtrip economy flight will only cost you 17,500 AA miles and a one way will cost you 8,750 AA miles.

The website has a listing of city destinations that these reduced mileage awards will count for. In addition, you have to make sure that there is MileSAAver availability for your trip by first going to AA website.

For example, say I wanted to go to West Palm Beach, FL which is on the list for May. Only those dates in green for 12.5k each way will be available for reduced mileage awards.

  1. Don’t forget the ripoff $25 fee for telephone ticketing which eats into the savings especially on a one way.

If you explain that you cant book it online..they may wave the fee. I have gotten it waived before.

  2. Would you mind ticketing mine next time? I use these often to Canada. Out of all the ones I’ve booked, only once have they waived the booking fee. They are very reluctant to do so. I book online then phone in to get them to enter the code which removes the purchase tab online. They transfer me to tech support when I tell them I’m getting an errorless message. But rarely will they waive the fee.
