Mark Your Calendars, AMEX Small Biz Saturday is Nov 30

American Express hosts small business Saturday where small business can get promoted and you can get free money : a win, win! When you shop at select small business on November 30, 2013 which you can find here, you will get a $25 statement credit for each Amex credit card you use. I only have 3 so I could potentially get $75 in free money!  Update: You can now only get a $10 credit per card which is less than the previous years of $25 per card.

A strategy that has been used are to buy gift cards at your favorite small business restaurant to use later. You can purchase at actual locations or there is also an online purchase option but there are not many merchants. Some options that I found in Houston where I would use it is Kolache Shoppe,  Ninfas Mexican Restaurant, or Canyon Cafe. Or maybe I’ll be adventurous and find a new place to dine.

Also a good idea to order any extra cards in friends/family members names now. $25 statement credit is per card, not per account.

Last year were ended up with $225. This year is shaping up to be even better. 🙂

Cool, I didn’t know that. That will really boost my measly 3 cards. Thanks for the tip 🙂

    • Literally. Can’t. Wait.

SBS is my wife’s favorite holiday. I give her all the Amex’s that day as a gift for putting up with my crazy Milenomics all year long. 😉

  2. I screwed this up last year and didn’t quite buy enough to earn the credit. I think it was MORE THAN $25 or something like that and I bought $25 even and never received a credit. I’ll make sure to pay attention to the details this year.

You only need to charge at least $25 so you should have gotten the credit. It may be too late to dispute last years but if it happens again, you should call amex about it.
