Best Countries in South America to Use 20,000 Miles on a One-Way American Airlines Award From Los Angeles

One of the best things about American Airlines is the ability to use only 20,000 AAdvantage miles to travel in Economy class from North America to certain countries of South America such as Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina. 20,000 American Airlines miles can only be used during the Off-peak season which is also called a MileSAAver Off-Peak Award. The off-peak seasonal dates are defined as “Mar. 1 – May 31; Aug. 16 – Nov. 30”.

I know a lot of people already have plans booked for this fall, so I am only going to focus on next year’s dates which are Mar. 1 – May 31. As of today, the award calendar only goes up to mid-May.

I have only been to Santiago, Chile and would love to one day visit La Paz, Montevideo, Asuncion, and Buenos Aires.
