La Quinta Resort & Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort Hotel Review Part 1

Since summer air travel is usually expensive, I tend to stick to staycations in the summer months of July. Last year, I stayed at the La Quinta Resort and Club and had a fantastic time, so I decided to book a stay this year. The hotel is located in La Quinta, CA which is two hours driving distance from Los Angeles. I booked this hotel for $99 using the American Express Fine Hotel & Resorts Program. Since this property is a Waldorf Astoria Resort, I called the hotel to add my Hilton HHonors Gold number so I could receive points and stay/night credit.

The best thing about booking this hotel using the American Express Fine Hotel & Resorts program is the ability to unlock the plethora of benefits such as 12pm check in, room upgrade, $100 resort credit, breakfast for 2, and guaranteed 4pm late checkout. One of the best features about this hotel is that they waive the $27.00 resort fee for Hilton HHonors Gold and Diamond members.

The $100 resort credit can be applied towards pretty much anything at the resort and can be split up to multiple purchases including gift shops, restaurants, spa, etc. The daily breakfast for 2 is very generous as well because there is no set amount and gratuity is even included. Basically, I ordered $90 worth of breakfast and tipped $20. The entire breakfast charge did not appear on my folio.

The entrance of the hotel is surrounded by palm trees. You are also greeted by the many beautiful fountains on the resort grounds.

I arrived at 11am to check-in and I was pleasantly greeted by the front desk agent. She advised me that as a Hilton HHonors Gold member, I was upgraded to a Starlight Casita room.

A Starlight Casita is a second story room with a private sundeck.

The room was adequately sized and contained a king size bed, table with 2 chairs, TV, fireplace, and a fridge.

The bathroom was very spacious and contained Salvatore Ferragamo amenities with a separate shower and a large bathtub.

The best part about the hotel is that the La Quinta Resort boasts 41 pools throughout the property.

Part 2 of this review will focus on the dining aspect.
