Why Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza Is the Only Real Option for Food in LAX Terminal 4

The American Airlines Terminal 4 at LAX has been going through a restaurant renovation. There aren’t many sit down restaurant options in this terminal. I’ve seen Chili’s, Burger King, and now Starbucks close down completely. They have been replaced by pop-up Market Fresh gourmet stands. Homeboy Café is great for morning bagels and sandwiches, but there are no seats available. The only option now is Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza and Grill.

Earlier this year I had the chance to try out Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza before my flight to Cabo San Lucas. I’ve always wanted to try out Sammy’s, but the wait was always too long. My friend and I arrived pretty early this time so we could have dinner before our flight to Cabo. Be aware that the restaurant is always crowded and the wait times could be lengthy as they give you a “buzzer” when they’re ready to seat you. I felt like I was at the Cheesecake Factory. The seating is always limited as well.

To start, we ordered a pitcher of sangria which was delicious.

As an appetizer, we ordered garlic fries with Parmesan cheese. The fries were crisp, but only had a hint of garlic.

As an entrée, we shared a pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage pizza. The pizza was fresh out of the oven and delicious.

For dessert, we ordered mini donuts with chocolate and raspberry sauce. These were amazingly delicious!

The bill came out to $50 with tax and tip, which wasn’t too bad. It’s sad to see a lot of other food options go away in Terminal 4, but Sammy’s is a viable option if you have time before your flight.

  1. those fries look amazing!

  2. I have a love hate relationship with Sammy’s.

Love: The food. It’s tasty for sure.
Hate: the Service. On my last trip, I waited for nearly 30 minutes before someone even spoke to me. When they did, I waited another 20 minutes before my drink was brought to me.

On top of this, they overcharged my card the trip prior. I had to fight Amex and waited about 5 months for it to be settled.

I’m patiently waiting to see if they did this again. If they did, I’ll be taking further action.

Unfortunately, it is the only real food option if you want to sit down. That’s pretty sad.

    • Who did you contact when you were over charged? I’m dealing with the same thing and it seems kind of shady right now.
