Puerto Nuevo in Baja California, Mexico is a thirty minute drive from the San Ysidro border. Puerto Nuevo is a small fishing village that specializes in lobster and highly depends on tourism. Puerto Nuevo is also known as Lobster Village. I haven’t been back to Puerto Nuevo in almost a decade and I’ve been longing to go for some delicious lobster. There are also small shops and vendors selling souvenirs.

Puerto Nuevo is home to almost 40 restaurants that serve lobster. Almost all of them are owned by the same family called the Ortegas. In addition, there are other restaurants and shops intertwined between the lobster restaurants.
I had lunch at Rosa Mar restaurant and I love their lobster specials.
Basically, you get one a half pounds of lobster with all you can eat rice, beans, chips, salsa, homemade flour tortillas, and even a margarita all for $16 USD. You can’t beat this deal anywhere else in Puerto Nuevo. (The picture shown is for 2 people, $16 USD each).
After being stuffed with lobster, I went on a stroll through the many shops and vendor stalls in Puerto Nuevo.
I highly recommend a trip to Puerto Nuevo if you’re staying in Tijuana or Rosarito since it’s really close. The lobster here is fresh and caught daily. The souvenirs can be bargained for and dollars are accepted everywhere in Baja California.
